WY'EAST TRAIL FEST 28k
The Wy’east Trailfest 28K course provides a world-class lollipop loop route high on the slopes of Oregon’s tallest and most famous volcano, Mt. Hood, known as Wy’east to native peoples. As the highest race in the Pacific NW, the course features 95% single track trail along volcanic alpine ridgelines up high, with deep forests and prolific wildflower meadows down low. Staged at Oregon’s premier ski area, Mt. Hood Meadows, the course travels up to 8000’ on the volcano, while climbing 4300’ from start to finish. Runners negotiate a broad spectrum of PNW terrain, including flowing meadow-lined and forested single track, as well as steep, technical and exposed rocky trails.
Famous landmarks include Umbrella Falls, the iconic Timberline Trail, expansive views of the Mt. Hood summit, glaciers and canyons, as well as the panoramic skyline extending down the Pacific Crest to Mt. Jefferson and Three Sisters volcanoes, as well as much of the western Old Cascades, Central Oregon High Desert and eastern Columbia River Gorge.
